Counseling is a resource for individuals, families and groups with diverse needs who struggle with their daily challenges to include depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, life changes, behavior challenges, addict and a host of other concerns.
Therapy is a personalized experience, so how it helps, differs from person to person. It will often involve things such as getting a different perspective on your experiences, exploring and discovering things about yourself, making changes in unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving, processing difficult experiences, and learning healthy coping tools.
If you are in crisis during NDNY open hours (Monday through Friday 9AM-6PM ) and you need to see a counselor right away, please call the office (850-727-4229) and you will be scheduled for one of our same-day urgent walk-in appointments or our on-call counselor will phone you.

You can expect to talk about the concern(s) that brought you into counseling and also about your background and personal history. You can share on a level that feels comfortable for you.
Individual sessions are typically scheduled for 50 minutes. How often sessions are scheduled, is up to the discretion of the counselor.
An intake is the initial process that must be completed to determine the best possible care. During this appointment, a counselor will collect some preliminary information about you and your concerns. You and the counselor will decide on ways to address your stressors and build upon your strengths. This may involve individual, couples or group counseling; learning disorder assessment; referral to our consulting psychiatrist; or a referral to a clinician outside the agency.
If you are in need of psychiatric medication, there are psychiatrist available to assess your needs.
The counselor’s role is not to “fix” problems or solve them for you. Instead, they are trained professionals who help you to identify, explore, and further understand possible causes and ways to cope with your stressors.
The counseling process is confidential. information cannot be released without prior authorization or except under certain legally prescribed conditions. If you have concerns or questions about our Confidentiality Policy, please discuss them with your intake counselor.
When you arrive at our facility, we will verify your insurance through our real-time verification process. This provides us with up-to-date eligibility, deductible information, co-pays, and co-insurance according to your particular insurance plan. Every insurance plan is different and it can be very confusing at times. If you have questions regarding your insurance eligibility or verification, please call us.
